North Glenmore Park’s July President’s Message

NGP pm

Hello Neighbours!

I hope that you are all keeping physically and psychologically healthy during these unprecedented times. I am writing this on June 9, and I am learning to not plan very far in advance because the world seems to change on a weekly basis.

Summer is here and it will be an odd one because for the first time in many years, there will be no summer camps as we have known them. Despite our desire to provide these wonderful opportunities to our community, the risks and costs associated would have been challenging for the community association to absorb. With limitations on the number of participants cut in half, no response from government on summer student positions, and the extra required cleaning costs, this would have meant we would be in a deficit by the end of summer of between 15 and 20 thousand dollars. We are truly sorry.

We are reminding folks that one of the small revenue sources we have is your membership fees. Please consider purchasing a membership if it is within your family’s means. When I attend Presidents’ Meetings with our local city councillor or when we represent our community at meetings with the Federation of Calgary Communities, the only power we have is with numbers. And that means you.

Thank you for caring about your community and your neighbours. We will move through this, slowly but surely. And we will move through it by caring about each other and taking the safety precautions shared by the health region. As Mayor Nenshi says, “Clean hands, clear heads, open hearts.”

Your neighbour,

Karen
