Who would have thought the world could change so quickly? In the spirit of “Stay close but from a distance”, hopefully this month’s newsletter brings something of interest to your family – starting with what I’ll call the “Image of hope” photo on our cover that spring, growth and outdoor activities are not too far away. Just a few items as follows…
Events Update
As I’m sure you have already figured out, community events are either deferred or cancelled. The planned multi-community special event I mentioned last month (spoiler alert – it’s a music festival) has been postponed to June 2021. However, this will give lots of time for more planning and potentially more community involvement. Additionally, the City has cancelled all Community Clean-Up Days for 2020. Once things “return to normal”, we’ll update you on any summer/fall events that might be still taking place.
An Opportunity to Share Your Experiences
It struck me that while everyone is adapting to the current “Stay at Home” environment, it might be fun – and give you and your family something to do – to share some of your experiences. So… please feel free to send me an email ([email protected]) with a brief description of “How We Spent the Great Lockdown of 2020”. Anything from how you spent your time or things you learned, to special moments you were able to share with your family – generally anything you feel might be of interest to your community neighbours. I will review all submissions, and include as many as possible in the June edition of this newsletter.
Please keep your submission reasonably brief (let’s say a couple of paragraphs or around 200 words), and let me know how you would like your item signed – full name, first name only, initials or anonymous. Thanks.

Finally, please note the following City of Calgary websites that you might find useful. First, www.calgary.ca/covid19 provides all the latest info on dealing with the current situation, including updates on City services and support available to individuals and businesses. Then www.calgary.ca/athome provides a host of ideas on programs and activities for kids, youth, seniors and families. Check them out.
