Hello Signal Hill Neighbours,
Hopefully you noticed something a bit different about our cover this month and are reading this to get more information. We would really like to draw your attention to our site project and get your feedback as noted in the first item below, as well as highlight our popular photo contest and request for volunteers. Details and links on all these items can be found on our website at shca.ca.
Gathering Place Project – Seeking Community Input
We are calling this project “The Gathering Place” and are looking to get feedback from the community on the design concept recently developed for us by NAK Design. The intent is to make the site multi-seasonal, multi-cultural, and multi-generational. We want the space to be comfortable and fun for adults, children, and seniors alike. What do you think?
Step one: Have a look at the new design documents shown on two pages separately in this edition (or on the website).
Step two: Complete our feedback survey by scanning the QR code on the cover (or again, via the website).
Gathering community input is a very important part of making sure we are creating a space that everyone will enjoy. If you have any questions about the plan or the process, please email Laurel at [email protected].
Casino Fundraising Event – Call for Volunteers
The Signal Hill Community Association has been awarded a casino fundraising event on April 3 and 4, 2022 by the AGLC. This is our main revenue-generating effort, covering approximately 50% of the community association’s operating expenses for the next two years. The effort requires 40 dedicated community members to provide their time to perform a shift at Cowboys Casino. Training is provided by knowledgeable Casino consultants who guide us through every step. It is a great way to get to know some more of your neighbours while working together for your community.
Please volunteer! Visit volunteersignup.org/4JMHW to pick a shift and provide your contact information. Any questions, please contact Gord at [email protected].
Annual Photo Contest
Calling all photographers! Signal Hill Community Association is hosting its third Annual Photo Competition. Last year we were very pleased with the variety and quality of the photos! Because of the wonderful young talent in Signal Hill, we will be adding an additional category for individuals 12 and under. Last year we gave away over $650 worth of prizes and gift cards to five talented winners (last year’s winners and prizes can be viewed on our website).
Winners will be selected by the SHCA Board in March and prizes for First, Second, Third, and 12 and under winners will be announced and highlighted in the April edition of our newsletters and on the shca.ca website, along with a full array of photos. Contest rules and entry instructions, along with photo privacy and permission requirements, are posted on the shca.ca website.
