I hope you and your family are doing well during the ongoing challenges we have faced due to the pandemic. As I sit here writing this message in early July, I am wondering when, if ever, we can get back to normal with our everyday lives. I especially miss travelling and hope that my wife and I can enjoy a trip down south again sometime in 2021. As a minimum, we are making the best of the situation and enjoying the summer in Calgary, and I hope you are as well.
Despite the pandemic, our board of directors continues to meet monthly using Zoom video conferencing from the comfort of our homes. We were able to hold a Neighbour Day event on June 20th, and we are looking forward to hosting a City event, ‘The Community Nature Adventure Program’, at our Springbank Hill Community Park, August 4 to 6. The board also reached a decision to proceed with the construction of our new community gardens this year. We anticipate completing the project this year and opening the garden beds for member rentals in 2021. As well, we decided to proceed with the fountain repairs at the park on Springbank Gate SW. Cost will be shared with the city and we plan to cover our portion with a grant. See articles in this edition of the newsletter for further details.
We continue to seek new board members, and welcome any resident who has a passion to support and grow our community to contact us for further details. New volunteers are also welcome. Our immediate need is to find someone who can take over our social media communication role. It’s a great way to support your community, grow your skills and join our great team! Feel free to email me directly at [email protected] and we can discuss further.
Enjoy the remainder of the summer season and we look forward to seeing you at one of our future events.
