On May 3, 2023, three families in our community lost their homes due to a devastating fire. Thankfully, no one was harmed; however, sadly one of the families lost two of their beloved dogs. This tragic event was heartbreaking not just for the families but also for friends, neighbours, and the community at large.
The WSCRCA, in conjunction with West Springs Church and with the support of generous community members, raised approximately $10,000 in cash and gift cards within three days to support the three families affected. On behalf of the families, we would like to extend a huge thank you to our community for your thoughts, kind words of support, assistance, and overall care for these families. The families also wanted to let the community know how grateful they are and sent this note in their own words,
“We want to thank the community association, West Springs Church, and others, and extend our heartfelt thanks to all the families who contributed to the packages we received. We feel fortunate to live in this wonderfully supportive community.”
Living in a community that always rises to the challenge when help is needed is something very special that we are incredibly proud to be part of. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
