Families Living in Your Community Require Support Over The Holidays

This holiday season, the South West Communities Resource Centre (SWCRC) will be helping low-income families in 28 south Calgary communities by providing them with the gift of food.

The holiday season is a time for us to enjoy family, friends and a warm home-made meal. Families within our community celebrate a variety of holidays, and with each of these come unique food traditions. Food is such an important part of all cultures as it brings family and friends together to share a meal, celebrate, and strengthen relationships.

Sadly, for many families with constrained resources, the budget for food is one of the first items to be compromised and food hampers don’t provide choice.

We are asking for your help in providing opportunities for vulnerable families in your neighbourhood to purchase groceries unique to their holiday food traditions. Please help us by purchasing a grocery store gift card to give to a local family that needs your support.

  • $25.00 gift card will purchase the extras on a table for a family of four
  • $50.00 will purchase the fruit, vegetables and the extras for a family of four
  • $100.00 will purchase the meal for a family to enjoy over the holidays.

Please drop off, send grocery gift cards to, or contact us at:
