September at Queen Elizabeth School will be exciting with over 300 students and new staff getting to know each other and grade 5/6 leaving for outdoor school at the end of the month. Stay in touch and get involved. Queen Elizabeth School has many ways for parents to find out more about school happenings and to meet the rest of their school community.

Stop by the school office anytime during school hours. If you cannot, the Queen Elizabeth website (http://school.cbe.ab.ca/school/QueenElizabeth) is a great place to start with school calendars and other updates. The qee.blogability.ca page has event information, volunteering information and the School Council page. There is also a page on qee.blogability.ca for every classroom. Click subscribe to receive email updates from your children’s teacher.

Avoid Surprises

If you want to receive key emails from Andrea Cartwright, school principal, about school events, you need to subscribe and opt-in. It only takes a minute. Go to www.cbe.ab.ca/ subscribe and submit your primary email address on file at school.

If you want to volunteer, there are two key steps. One, make sure you complete your CBE security clearance. Two, go to qee.blogability.ca and click on the volunteer tab at the top of the page. Sign up to be sent emails about volunteer opportunities for the school and your children’s classes.

Grade 5/6 Outdoor School – Camp Kiwanis

Outdoor school, an elementary highlight at Queen Elizabeth will be in the fall for our Grade 5 and 6 students. They will be going to Kamp Kiwanis from Sept 24-27 for an exciting three-night school trip. If you are new to the school, stop by the school office or call the school to find out more information on the camp.

Mabel’s Labels Keep track of the new clothes, shoes and supplies children leave behind at school with stick-on and iron-on labels from Mabel’s Labels. Mabel’s Labels is an online resource for custom labels where a portion of your purchase goes to the school council to spend on school programs. Go to www.campaign.mabelslabels.com and search for Queen Elizabeth Elementary School (Calgary).

Still More

If that isn’t enough, watch for information coming home for our Meet the Teacher evening, Terry Fox Run and Ice Cream Social.
