When I looked in the mirror, who did I see?
Who, on earth, could that person possibly be?
A stranger for sure, not to be known
The very deepest sadness on her face clearly shown.
For the longest time now, she looked out of place,
Out of step, out of grace, the very loneliest case.
Gone was the spark, charm and smile
Many days and weeks passed
It was quite awhile.
She had, it seemed, lost her way
But then, something happened, just the other day!
The mirror showed a different view.
Her expression not so blue
A twinkle appeared, a lighter step too.
Concern for others, a listening ear
An attitude of confidence, nothing to fear.
It all came together and will last year after year…
